The German Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers’ Association in the VDMA (Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Association) represents 90 % of the country’s turnover of machinery, plants and tools for woodworking.

The association's role is to facilitate the transfer of information about new technologies and services to companies in the wood industries, to represent its members' interests with regard to economic policy and technology, and to organize research projects and seminars. The association is also a co-organizer of the LIGNA World Fair for the Forestry and Wood Industries in Hannover, and of the HOLZ-HANDWERK Trade Fair for Machinery, Equipment and Supplies for the Wood Crafts in Nurnberg.
